Nose Piercing

This morning, we took it easy and relaxed. We took our time getting ready.  We went to the chiropractor for a 9am appointment. He said, he wants to see me next weekend. My neck is really out of place, great.
Around 11:30am, I was down in the basement doing laundry, and Andrew was out taking the trash. My parents came over. My mom called out, “Dan it is us. We are here.” I said, “I am in the basement.” She said, “the door was open, so we just came in.”  I went upstairs and said, “that’s okay, I was doing laundry.” she said, “No problem. We saw Drew outside.” He came inside at this point and handed me an envelope from Pitt’s Childcare Center. I forgot I talked with them this week. He asked if, he could just put it upstairs. I said, “yes, please.” He went upstairs, with the mail and then came back down.
When it was time to leave, we all went in Drew’s car to Up in Arms, which is a Tattoo shop. As part of my 30th birthday present, I was getting my nose pierced again. I was so excited. I don’t know don’t ask me why, but I love the thrill of a needle. It is an adrenaline rush.
When we arrived at the tattoo shop, I told the woman I was here for a nose piercing. She said, come on back. She told the piercer what I was here for, and he came back into the room. They had me sit on this table, and fill out some forms on his ipad. I told him I had it pierced before and I would like it done in the same hole, as the previous one. Drew came back to the room to watch.
After I was done filling out the forms, he wiped my nose down with an alcohol wipe, and marked the spot where he was going to pierce me, and had me lay down. Then he put his surgical mask on, and washed his hands, and put some gloves on, and then he took the needle. I closed my eyes, and he said, “alright take a deep breath for me.” I felt the needle go in, and out. He then put the nose stud in my nose. There was a bunch of pressure, no pain, just pressure. It made my eyes water. It was normal. After he put the stud in, he had to tighten it inside my nose. He put his finger inside of my nose in order to tighten it. It was sensitive, but it was back! I was so excited.
When we left the tattoo shop, we went to Eat n Park for breakfast/lunch. My parents loved my nose stud. I am so glad to have it back in. I love it. I was wondering what work was going to say, but I didn’t think they were going to say anything really, or even notice, because it is a University, and they are pretty laid back about this stuff.
After lunch, we went back to our house, and my parents got in their car to go let the dogs out, and feed them. They were coming back over for the Pitt game later. Andrew and I vacuumed and finished laundry. It was nice to have some alone time. We also, went to the store to pick up the ingredients for Buffalo Chicken Dip. My dad requested it. We also had spinach dip left over from the Sociology welcoming event that we had at work.
When we got back home, I made the dip, but waited to put it in the oven until closer to them arriving. They got there during the last half of the 1st quarter. Pitt didn’t look so good. This was a huge game. If they were going to lose, I knew Drew was going to be in a bad mood. Well Pitt did lose, but it was nice to have my family over for the game.
After my parents left, we got the house back to normal, and then went to Home Depot to order our sliding glass door and skylights. Then we went to Giant Eagle: Market District and did some grocery shopping for the week, and to drop our dry cleaning off. Drew didn’t seem in that good of a mood. I wonder if we were both tired.

Fall Cleaning

This morning, we brought up our fall clothes from the garage, Halloween/fall decorations from the garage. We went through all our clothes, and got rid of 4 garbage bags full of clothes! It was soul cleansing. We did laundry, cleaned the bathroom, and the kitchen. We watched the Pitt game and they won by a hair.
After we cleaned and decorated for Fall we got showered, then went to the Dollar Store to pick up wipes, and then to Home Depot to price windows and a sliding glass door, then we went to Kirkland’s and got the big pumpkin with an “H” on it. I wanted one of everything in that store!
Then we went to dinner at Ya Fei, a Chinese restaurant in the Robinson Town Center. We always have a good experience there. This one not so much. The guy had a bit of attitude and wasn’t all that funny, but the food was good. We took most of it home. We had so much food back home to eat.
After dinner, we went grocery shopping, and then went home to relax for the rest of the evening. We were so tired, and a bit sore from all that we did earlier.

Tricia’s Baby Shower

This morning I got up around 8:00am. Drew was going to make me breakfast, before I left to go to the shower. I still had to stop and get tissue paper. I was slow moving, getting ready for the shower. I was happy for Tricia, but I just wanted to chill all day.
When I arrived at the venue, it was out in Beaver County like New Brighton, PA. I didn’t think it was that far of a drive, from where we live. I arrived like 15 mins early. I hesitated going in, so early but I wanted to get a good seat and chit chat with Tricia.
When I walked in, I gave her a big hug and asked to touch her belly. She looks so cute. You can’t even tell she is pregnant from behind, but when she turns around she is all belly.  I put my gifts on the table, and said Hi to her sister, and I got hold Frankie. Frankie is Tricia’s neice. She is 1, so adorable and still so chunky. She was fascinated by the beads on my necklace, and kept putting them in her mouth. I didn’t care.
Lunch was so good. It was a chicken or steak salad. They went around and asked us what dressing we wanted on our salad. I almost ate the whole thing. Tricia sat next to me, and on the other side of me was Ben’s Grandma. Across from Tricia and I was Ben’s mom. I was glad Tricia sat next to me. I really didn’t know too many people there. Some people looked familiar from her wedding and her bridal shower.
As Tricia opened the gifts, I was helping to organize them. As I watched her open her gifts, I couldn’t help but wonder was I next? Was I next to have a baby, and a baby shower? Tricia and Ben got married two months before we did. Her shower was before mine, and I won a prize at the shower, but am I next? I have mixed feelings good and bad. I feel as though I would be ready, but it’s a huge step in life to have children. I just want everything to line up, just so. I am looking forward to it though.
After I left the baby shower, I went to meet Drew at Grandma’s. I hadn’t seen her since Stephanie and Mike’s wedding. She was so happy to have Drew there. I know we need to see her more. We hung out with her for a bit, and caught up on our gossip. Then, we went back to our house. We did some laundry, and then went grocery shopping. I had to figure out what we were going to make for dinner. I was still pretty full from lunch. We decided on stuffed peppers.
When we got home, I started making the stuffed peppers, preheated the oven, and then made tomato caprese with a spinach salad. We were going to eat so well tonight. That evening, we just relaxed and watched some television until it was time to go to bed.

Gym Day

Today, when we woke up it didn’t look like a pool day. However the sun was shining through a bit, but it wasn’t enough. I made bacon for breakfast and we had coffee. We cleaned up a little, then got ready to go to the gym. I didn’t want to lose the day. We still had to go grocery shopping.

Once we got to the gym, we went our separate ways. I was on the elliptical talking to Clay, and he approached us and said hi to Clay and me. Then he went on the stair machine. When I finished the elliptical, I did the treadmill for 30 minutes, then did the strength training machines. Clay chatted with me while did the machines, and adjusted my seat for me if I needed it. I planned to meet Andrew in the lobby ten minutes after 2pm.

After I finished the ab machine, I felt like a I got a really good workout in. I was proud of myself. I met Drew in the lobby. When we went outside, it was muggy from the rain that just ended. We got in the car and went home.

While I was in the shower, Drew asked me if I wanted to still invite Anthony to the cookout. He said, I didn’t mean what I said last night about not wanting to hang out with him anymore. He can still come over baby. I said, awww that is very nice of you. I  will tell him it is still on and he is more than welcome to come over. He said sounds good baby.

When I got out of the shower, I texted Anthony and told him it was still on and to see him around 4pm if he still wanted to come over. He said, “Definitely I am at my mom’s right now doing laundry, but I will see you at 4pm. Drew got a shower than we went grocery shopping.

When we got back from grocery shopping, I got the groceries put away and cleaned the downstairs bathroom. It was so dirty. Then Anthony arrived, and Drew heated up the grill. Anthony sat at the kitchen table, and we chatted while I was getting things ready. While Drew was cooking, I made cupcakes. I figured we could sing Happy Birthday to him, since we never did. 😦

When dinner was ready, we had hamburger, hot dogs, corn on the cob, chips and dip. It was so yummy. Then, we sang Happy Birthday to Drew. I didn’t have any birthday candles, so I used a match, but the match went out. I tried again, and it still went out, so I just lit a lighter, and we sang to him. This was so hilarious and we documented it on Facebook Live. This was the comic relief that I needed.

After dinner, we went into the living room and watched the movie 47 meters down. Mandy Moore starred in it as the lead. I knew she was going to make it alive. She was the planned one, and the apprehensive one. Her and her friend are on a vacation to Mexico, and they decide to go scuba diving with some guys they met. Well things don’t go as planned, and they end up in a cage under water being attacked by sharks. It wasn’t too bad. I enjoyed it. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. After the movie, Anthony left and we cleaned up and went to bed.

Pool Day

This morning, we woke up and made breakfast. I started the coffee and the bacon, but he took over. He likes to make breakfast, but he was happy I got it started. I watched Jamestown while he made breakfast. I was almost finished with the show.

After we ate breakfast, I cleaned up, and we got ready to go to the pool. We wanted to get there around 11:30am, that is when it opens, and we are always the one standing in line, waiting for it open. I decided to wear my green and black bikini, something different.

Once inside the pool, they weren’t really all that busy, but we figured they would get busy soon. We got our spot. Drew went to go get a bottle water for us, and I laid out our towels, and sat down. I started applying the sun screen, and then Drew arrived. We got lathered up, and then I stepped into the water, and laid out, by the shallow end. I call it sauteing.

When the bell would ring, and the waves would start, I would sit up some, and tie my top. I am not a fan of tan lines, or after I would tie my top. I would go back to the towel and reapply my lotion and check on my Husband. Sometimes I would lay on my stomach, so I can get some sun on my back.

After the waves were over, I would go back into the water. When we first arrived, Drew and I went swimming in the deep end together. I don’t call it swimming. I call it trying to survive and save my life. I am not a good swimmer. Drew was there to rescue me, and help me.  He is a great swimmer. We swam for a wave session, then once the waves were over, we went back to laying out.

When we left the pool, it was about 1:40pm. We decided it was probably time to go. We had a couple hours of sun, and I had a nice color to me so far. We wanted to get our grocery shopping done for the week. We also weren’t sure what to cook for dinner, but we remembered his parents saying something about having Sunday dinner at their place. Ken and Cheryl would be there, and they invited some other friends of Dad’s over. We decided to see if we were still invited.

When we got in the car, Drew turned on his phone, and there was a text from mom saying that dinner would be at 5pm, if we changed our minds. We told her we would be there, and wanted to know if there was anything we could bring. Dad said just to bring 4 little acid cigars. We went to the grocery store and did our grocery shopping. We had to pick up the ingredients for Buffalo Chicken Dip. We were going to make that for the cook out on Tuesday.

After the grocery store, we went home and unloaded the groceries, and got ready to go to his parents house. I wanted to wear this white little sun dress to show off my tan and some flip flops, very chill and summery. Drew needed to stop for gas, so we stopped at GetGo. After he pumps his gas, we go inside and get some ice tea. When we get to the check out counter, we put our teas on the counter. The guy tells us the total. he looks at me and says, “Nice Dress.” I smiled and said, “Thank you.” I look up at Drew. he doesn’t look back at me, so I look at the guy. Then the guy said, “Just wondering, do you both like Horror Movies?” We both said, “Yes we do.” He asked, “What is your favorite series?” We both said, “Halloween.” He said, “Yes Michael Myers is good, but I am a Friday the 13th fan myself.” I said, “Yes, Jason Vorhees. Camp Crystal Lake.” He said, “I am just wondering, because I am getting ready to make my own horror movie.” I was thoroughly crepped out. Now if you know me, you will know that it doesn’t take too much to shock me, scare me, or surprise me. I have a pretty open mind, but today and in this moment, I was officially scared.

When we were on our way out the door, only one door was working. The other door was locked. I knew that coming in, but I was in such a hurry to get out of there, I kind of stumbled into the locked door, before quickly pushing open the working door. Drew was laughing at me. I turned to look at him once we got outside. I said, “What the hell was that? ” We both were a little crepped out by that guy.

Once we got to his parents, we told his mom and dad the story. They laughed. Eventually Ken and Cheryl showed up and then we all sat outside, and talked about everything Poltics, LGBQT community, the word today, history, and the like. Then we all decided to go inside and eat dinner.

As we were eating dinner, another couple shows up. Dad’s friend Larry and his wife. They joined our table, but different really eat. They seemed a bit different. They had 5 children and they home schooled all of them. I find that to be very selfish. I never knew anyone who was home schooled, but talk about wanting your kids to stay in the confines of their home, and never being allowed to experience things that other kids experienced. It is actually pretty sad. I liked Ken and Cheryl better they are more down to earth.

When we got home, while I finished watching the Jamestown series, I painted my nails.  I borrowed some nail polish from my mother-in-law and painted my nails and my toes. I wanted to do white and red for the 4th, but I couldn’t get the red bottle open, so my nails are white, and so are my toes. The color is called a Pearl of Wisdom from the OPI Infinity Shine collection. I like this polish. I will have to invest in it sometime. I wanted 4th of July nails. I think this is the closest I am going to get.

When the Jamestown series ended, I thought it was okay. I am glad I watched it, but it wasn’t all that good. I thought some parts were better than others, but the plot line and the characters were a bit a weak.  I was hopeful for more. It had a happy ending, which is nice. Not many historical fiction shows do, but I am ready to start a new series. I will have to find another one to get sucked into.

Sunday Wedding

This morning, I got up and got ready. I had breakfast with Drew, then it was out the door. When I was on my way I noticed 376 was pretty backed up, so I cut through greentree and drove to the west end. Traffic seemed worse. It was bumper to bumper. I texted my friend Geoff, who is a police officer. He said, West End is doing “Open Streets.” I said, “What is that?” he said, “It is where the streets are open to walkers and bikers. It is closed off to cars until about 1 pm.” I whipped around and went back up to 376 and sat in the traffic, until I got to Oakland.
When I finally arrived to the chapel, I was 15 minutes late. Thank God the wedding guests weren’t due in until 1:15pm. I was able to settle in and set everything up in time. Frank asked me if I could explain the aisle runner to the fellas, who were assigned to pull it.
After I pinned on boutineers, I took the gentlemen down the aisle, and explained it the best I could, and then they seemed like they understood it, so right before the wedding got underway, I noticed that the votive for the unity candle wasn’t lit, so I hurried up and lit the votive, as the aisle runner was being pulled up the aisle. I ran back into the ambulatory, and waited for the signal on the organ.
When I finally, saw the signal, I went over to the access door, and lined up the gentlemen. Then when the music changed, I opened the door and let them out. When I heard the minister speak, I went downstairs, and the bride’s room looked good, so I swept it and then went back upstairs. I thought to myself not bad for my first time assisting.
When we opened the door, and led the bridal party down the right side of the aisle for pictures, I told the photographer they are all yours. I cleaned up the ambulatory, and waited for them to be done with pictures, then I blew out the candles, packed ’em up, and put them away. I handed the unity candle to a member of their wedding, so they could take it with them. I helped Frank pick up the aisle runner, and then when everyone was gone, and the ambulatory was locked up,  I could leave.
When I finally got home, we went grocery shopping for the week, then went home and made tacos for dinner. I was so happy to be home. I am so excited to have two weekends off with no weddings!

First Lazy Pool Day of the Summer

This morning we got up and got ready to go to the pool. We got there around 11am. The pool didn’t open until 11:30AM. We stood in line for a half hour, and it was hot. We finally got into the pool, and got our spots. Drew went to go to the bathroom, and I sat on the towel and put on some sunscreen. I was nervous about the sun, but happy to be doing nothing, but laying by the pool for a few hours. I did talk to Drew about what his mom said, and he said, that he supported me in whatever I said, to her and said that there is good and bad in every faith, especially those assholes at Victory Christian and ACA. I felt so special. I was happy that he was by my side.
Drew and I stayed at the pool until 2pm, then we went to the grocery store. We had to pick up somethings for dinner tonight, and for the week. I was so excited to start at Pitt. I had to get salads for lunch, as well. We ran into his parents at the grocery store. They seemed tired, and his dad was the only one that really said hi to us. We figured we weren’t getting any gift certificates today.
When we got home, Drew fired up the grill. I got a shower, and started some laundry. When I was done, I sat outside with him and hung with him while he grilled. We had hamburgers, and half of some steakabobs for dinner. I am so ready for the week ahead. Bring it on Pitt!
