Worst Monday, Ever

This morning, I went to work and I was tired. Drew’s neck was still sore. I need another weekend.  Work was slow Nancy is on vacation until next Monday. Quiet is not the word for it. I have to have some music on, or some noise. It won’t be a fun week. I forgot my lunch at home, it is on the stairs. I sit on the stairs to put on my shoes, and left my lunch behind. I have done this before.
At lunch, Wynn and I ordered a small pizza and a tossed salad to share. Nicollette joined us and ate lunch with us. We all talked about work and how quiet it is down there. It was fun to eat lunch with the girls.
After we ate, they went walking, and I went back to my desk. I got organized and got some small tasks done, and checked on the dogs. They seemed like they are okay, but not happy. She isn’t interacting with them, petting them, or playing with them. It is sad. They are used to much warmer behavior. It is heartbreaking to watch.
When I got home, and got settled for the evening. It was around 8:30pm, and I opened the camera app on my phone. Louie was howling and crying. I called my mom and asked her where the dog sitter was. My parents said, they are trying to find out, but they don’t know she isn’t answering. I said, “oh okay, well I am going over there.” If she is arrives, then let me know, and I will turn around and go home.”  I am so mad at this woman.
When I arrive to my parents, she is out back with the dogs. I park behind her car, and I get out. I didn’t want to creep her out. I introduce myself and she tells me her name. I said, the reason why I am here is that the rules are being followed. The dining room light is not on, and he is howling. It is 9pm at night and he is upset. She said, “I know I am sorry. I went home to see if my SIM card arrived. I broke my phone at the Dierks Bentley concert. I didn’t mean to alarm you.” I said, “okay, well please leave the light on in the dining room, when you go out.” She said, she would next time. I bent down to touch my dogs, who were going crazy because I was there. I felt so bad. I didn’t go into the backyard through the gate. I didn’t want them to think I was staying. I said to them, “See you Friday.” I got into my car, and backed out and Louie watched me leave and gave me this look like you are an ass.
On the way home, I called my mom and I cried. I said, this is so sad. This is not what they are used to. She said, “I know honey, but I don’t know what else to do. You will be there on Friday.” I got home and I told Drew and he feels bad for the dogs, that they are being treated this way, and that this girl is not following the rules. I can’t wait to see my dogs.

Father’s Day 2018

This Father’s Day, my parents are away on vacation, but as soon as I woke up I wished my dad Happy Father’s Day over the phone. I also posted something cute on Facebook. The plan was originally to go to the wave pool today, and then head to my in-laws for dinner, and try to spend time with the dogs, but Drew and I decided that we probably shouldn’t go to the wave pool, but take our time packing up and then head home, and go to his parents. I kinda felt the same way.
We ate breakfast, took it slow in the morning, and then took our time packing up. I fed the dogs, and took them out before we left. The night time dog sitter from Rover said, whenever we want to leave could text her and she would be right over. I did just that, but it sent as a text message, not an i message. I tried calling her phone before we left, and she didn’t answer. It went straight to voicemail. Her phone is off. I told my parents and they said, “just go she knows to be there tonight.”
When we left, we went home to our house and dropped off the stuff out of the car. I got changed into a dress to go to his parents. It was a beautiful day outside. it would have been a great pool day, but we were all burned.
When we arrived at his parents, his dad was making steaks on the grill, baked potatoes, and sweet potatoes, corn on a cob, and salad. It was so good! They gave us some things to take home as well. We are so grateful and so blessed. We talked about our trips, and how theirs was, and they asked us about Europe. I miss Europe so much.
After dinner, we had gourmet chocolate covered pretzels for dessert, and there was this truffle fudge cake slices. I stuck with the chocolate covered pretzels. I wasn’t in the mood for cake. After dinner we stayed for awhile, and dad opened up his cards and he loved his gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Mom got him a gift card to Best Buy.   When we left, we packed up the car and it was back home, to get ready for another week ahead.

Wave Pool

This morning, Drew had a Chiro appointment and I stayed home with the dogs. I took them out before Drew left, and then when he left. I fed them breakfast, and then I got ready to go to the pool. When Drew came home,  I made sure to take the dogs back out gain. He got his swim trunks on and then we went to the pool. Anthony and Dylan were going to meet us there, and after the pool we were going to have them over for a cook out.
When we arrived to the pool, we set our towels down and waited for Anthony and Dylan. Drew hurt his neck that morning. He must have slept on it wrong, so he laid on his towel and rested for awhile, before getting in the water.
Anthony Dylan and I laid out at the shallow end, when the wave session happened, they got their inner tubes, but they couldn’t fit in them, and on them, so Dylan and I started quoting Titanic. he said, “Get in the boat Rose.” I laughed and got on the inner tube. They dragged me through the waves, and eventually I fell over. It was so funny. The waves almost made me loose my bathing suit.  I need a full piece to hang out with them.
At one point, I made it to the deep end in the inner tube, then the wave stopped. Eventually, we got out, and then went back to laying out. Drew eventually got in the water with us and carried me around like a mermaid. It was so cute, even if he didn’t feel well.
After the pool, we left around 3:50pm, we had to stop at the store and get groceries for tonight. Dylan and Anthony were bringing things as well. We went home and got the dogs taken care of, and then Drew fired up the grill. I fed the dogs, then made macaroni salad, guacamole, and cut up things for the burgers. Dylan brought tortilla chips, and yams, but they were candied yams. He messed up. However, he brought corn on the cob too, and potato salad it would work!
Dinner was a feast! We ate at the dining room table like adults in the air conditioning. We all so burned from a day at the pool. After dinner, we cleaned up, and then went outside to play Cards Against Humanity. I left the dogs inside, but they started howling and screaming. I ended up letting them out, but tied them to my chair, so they wouldn’t lick and eat things off the deck. I hate when they do that.
After the card game, it was getting dark and the bugs were biting. It wast time to head in. I think Anthony and Dylan wanted to leave to get ice cream. I couldn’t fathom eating ice cream right now, ugh. When they left, we straightened up the house, and then it was off to bed.

Dog Sitting

After work today, I drove to my parents and  met Drew there. I took the dogs outside, they were so happy to see me. I love when I get to see them. I went out in the grass with them sat down. Louie put his front paws on my chest and knocked me down in a laying position. They both smothered me with kisses and love. I hate leaving them. I wish I had more vacation, so I could hang out with them.
After we went inside, Drew arrived. We decided on Chinese for dinner, since they delivered and we weren’t feeling pizza. I got a shower and got some comfortable clothes on and laid down on the couch with the dogs. Drew was in my dad’s chair. He went upstairs and got changed, and came back down. We were watching Jersey shore, when we heard the doorbell ring.
I got up and got the door, and Drew signed his card. We got ready to sit down and eat. we were so disappointed. I have been craving Chinese. I was so bummed, we both were. I ended up giving Drew what was left of mine, and I ate what was left of his.
After dinner, we watched whatever we could find on tv, and then I took the dogs out, and was time for bed. We were going to go to the pool at some point tomorrow. It was going to be so nice!

Doretta’s Retirement Party

Today, I have Doretta’s retirement party to go to, and I didn’t take a lunch today. The party started at 3:30pm. I was going to take my lunch hour then. Phyllis said it was okay. I was glad. I am leaving early tomorrow at 4:15pm, since I am dog sitting.
Once I arrived at the Music Department, I saw Frank walking down the hall. We went up the escalator together. The Music building has this familiar smell to it, especially the hallways. Once we got off the elevator, I saw Doretta talking to some people. I gave her a hug and she was so surprised to see me. I congratulated her on her retirement, and she asked about my dad. I said, he is doing well? Doretta was the cantor at Saint Simon and Jude, when my  dad was becoming a Catholic.
Everyone took a seat, and had some cookies and green tea. The chair made a speech, and then Paula made a speech and they gave her a gift from the department, which she didn’t open in front of everyone, which I thought was weird.
After while, Frank and I went downstairs, to his office. When I walked in, it still looked the same. The same little cave of an office, that it was when I was there, except it had a Mac, that was the coolest thing about that office, the computer. Frank told me that he isn’t sure who the line up is going to be for the Jazz Seminar and concert yet. I said, “oh wow, typically that is the already planned out by now.” he said, “yea. We don’t know what we are going to do.” I was kind of shocked. we made plans for our next lunch.
Then I had to go meet Drew at the parking garage to head home. I am so glad that position didn’t work out. I am glad I am where I am, and here I am thinking about leaving. I need to think more about applying for this job.

This morning I had a workshop that I had to go to. It was called Taming the E-mail Beast. I am three workshops away from the admin professionals certificate. I cannot wait to be done! I want to go for the Diversity and Inclusion one next, most of my workshops should roll over for that one.
When I arrived at the workshop, the woman who was hosting it Diane we had chatted a few times about my career and professional development. It was good to see her again. She started off the workshop with a PowerPoint slide, and she had the power point slides printed out for us on paper. I find these workshops so informative.
While I was waiting for the workshop to begin, I noticed that there was a job listed on PittSource. I wanted to apply for. It was an event coordinator position.  I have been trying to get involved in events at Pitt for so long now. I texted Phyllis and asked her if I could meet her after the workshop. I had a question for her. She asked if it was good or bad? I laughed a little inside. I texted it’s good. She said, Ok.
The second half of the work shop was hosted by one of Drew’s co-workers. He was going to talk to us about some of the features in Microsoft Outlook. I didn’t feel I needed to hear that part, so I quietly stood up and left. I figured if they would ask I would say, that I had a call that i needed to make.
When I arrived back at Posvar, I went to Phyllis’ office and we talked about the position. She said, “well all you can do is apply for it. I don’t want to see you go. I am not done yet.” I laughed. I agreed, part of me feels like I shouldn’t go, and I should stay. I need to learn so much still in this position. She encouraged me to talk to Linda about it.
When I arrived back to my office, Nancy said, I know you have your meeting with Linda today, but just let it go easy, and let her talk. She is in a mood today. I said, “Oh okay.” I decided to tell Nancy about the position. She immediately said, You know you can’t apply for anything until at least a year right?” I said, “yea, I know, but I can always put the date that I am available to start, is after my one year.” She asked, “You really want to do events?” I said, “I don’t know.” She said, “well I wouldn’t talk to Linda about it today. Wait until you get a second interview.” I smiled and sort of agreed.
That afternoon, I had my one-on-one with Linda. I created a small agenda and prepared myself for my meeting.  When it was time, I walked back to her office. She invited me, and I took a seat. We talked about my goals and things that I am working on. She thinks I am doing a good job and said, “It sounds like you know what you are talking about.” She said, “Anything else?” I said, “Yes, well sort of.” She laughed a little. I said, “Well there is this position I want to apply for on PittSource. It is an event coordinator position.” She said, “I think you would be great at that. What department is this for?” I said, “University Library System.” She said, “I don’t know anyone over there, but I won’t hold you back  you know that.” I said, “Thank you. my 1 year is coming up and I know I can’t apply for anything until after….” She said, “if they want you, we can waive that for you.” I said, “Oh wow, thank you” I started to get a little emotional. I thought what am I doing leaving here? They love me and they will work with me, probably more than the library, but I have to try. I feel that I need to try. I thanked her for her time, and left her office.
After the meeting, I talked to Nancy, and told her what she said. She was glad that it went well. I was glad it went well too. I did some tasks, then it was time to get ready to go to the happy hour with my music friends.
When I arrived at UClub, AJ the birthday boy was there, along with the chair I sat down on the couch with them and chatted for a bit. Then Paula and Stephanie showed up, as well as Susan and her husband. We went up to the roof top and got a table. We ordered our drinks, and then my husband arrived. Lastly, Phil and Gaea arrived. The gang was all there. I only had one drink.
After awhile, we were all sitting around when all of the sudden Chancellor Gallagher approached our table. He got a picture with AJ. Then Drew and I got a picture with him. Drew was starstruck. It was so cute. I have my picture already with him, but I am glad I got another. This one the cathedral is in the background it looks so good.

After the chancellor left our table, we chatted some more, but it just didn’t feel the same with these people anymore. I have been gone from the Music Department for awhile, and it felt like I just have moved on. Paula told me there is a retirement party for Doretta on Thursday and asked, if I wanted to come? I said, “oh for sure! I would love to!” Shortly after we got up to leave. I still have to figure out what I am making for dinner, or what we are going to do for dinner.

Anthony’s Birthday Party and Pride

This morning, I woke up and had breakfast with Drew, made coffee, and then hung out and watched the Handmaid’s tale. I waited for Anthony to call me. It’s his birthday party tonight, and I know he mentioned the pool. Drew was going to go to the chiro and then to the gym. He was going to meet us at the restaurant tonight. I was going to miss him all day.
I got dressed in my swimsuit, and then I packed a bag and went to Anthony’s. When I arrived, I dropped my stuff off, and we went to go pick up Ray and take him to the pool with us. Dylan was going to meet us there. It was going to be so fun.
When we arrived at the pool, we typically lay out on the right hand side, but Anthony wanted to lay out on the left hand side, and it was his birthday weekend. We set out towels down, and I put some tanning oil, then went to get into the water. It was so cold. I was so glad to be back at the pool. It’s crazy to not have this much clothes on in public. Hard to believe it is summer. Dylan arrived shortly after we got settled. His shirt, said, “Sure Jan.” l had to laugh.
While we laid out in the water, we chatted about boys, work, memories, and they asked about my trip to Europe. They were glad I had a good time.  They played around in the water. I didn’t go out too far it was too cold. We stayed for a few hours, and planed the rest of our day. Anthony had so much he wanted to do before dinner tonight.
When we left the pool, Dylan went home to get a shower and get ready for tonight. I dropped Ray off at home. Anthony and I went back to his house had lunch. I got a shower, and Anthony did his laundry. Then we went to Great Clips, and he got his hair cut. Then we met Dylan back at Anthony’s house, where Anthony got a shower and got ready. Then we had to go pick up Ray.
Once we got Ray, we went to the Mall. I had to try to find something with this $60 credit that we had through JCPenney’s. It was so hard to find a dress, that three gay men agreed on. They both have different styles. I grabbed a few dresses they waned me to try and went into the fitting room. Ray and Dylan stood outside the fitting room. Anthony came back with me on his own. I didn’t even ask him. He just came back with me. It was so funny. I laughed so hard.
Well we didn’t find a dress, or anything, so I just wore what I had on for dinner. When we arrived at the strip district. I parked in a parking garage. Ray gave me $8 for the garage. We walked through pride in the streets. It was awesome to see some people swaying to the house music, some people were in costumes, and others were in normal clothes. It was cool. When we past pride in the streets, we were on our way to the restaurant, when I got a call from Drew. He said, “Turn around.” I turned around. I didn’t see him. He said, “do you see me?” He was across the street getting ready to walk across to meet us. I smiled and waved back. I hung up the phone. We waited for him to approach us so we could all walk to the restaurant together.
Once we arrived at Emporio, we had to wait for our table, so we went up to the beer terrace, that was on the second floor. We had a pre dinner drink. Dylan and I took a selfie together. He and I have come a long way with our friendship. We met through Anthony and have had our ups and downs, but now we understand each other. I had a vodka and tonic. Drew had a Moscow mule. We all stood around and talked. Shortly after our table was announced.
We all went downstairs, and took a seat a our table. The waitress explained the menu. I switched to a beer for dinner. I am supposed to be DD. I wasn’t sure what the plans were for tonight. I couldn’t be drunk, that is for sure. Dinner was so good. The meatballs were so big, you could get them in a bowl, sub, plan, etc.  I had the traditional meatballs in a bowl with some pasta. I was basic. I didn’t feel adventurous.
After dinner, we walked through Pride. Anthony said, “Hold on I have to be next Drew. I want to see his face.” we all laughed. Drew has never been to a Pride festival before. At some points he had some look on his face, that was a little like ew gross, at some of the costumes, and etc. I looked up at him and whispered. “Hey you can’t look like that.” he laughed. He said, “I didn’t realize I had a look on my face.”
Eventually Drew went with Anthony and Ray to the bar. Dylan and I hung out in the crowd and talked about everyone. After awhile, they came back with drinks. The drinks were huge. Andrew had a beer. I couldn’t believe how big the drinks were. Andrew stayed for longer, than I thought he would.  🙂 I was proud of him. He saw a few minutes of his first local drag show.
When he left I kissed him good bye, he was walking towards the sidewalk, when he got hit on. A guy stopped him and said, “Whoa Whoa wait.” He turned to look at him. The guy looked at him and down and said, “What’s up?” Drew looked over at me and laughed. I watched the situation and I laughed. I walked up to him and took his hand. We walked to the sidewalk.  I said, “You should be good now. Please text me, when you get to your car.” He laughed and kissed me again. I walked back to my group and we waited for the ABBA tribute concert to begin.
The ABBA tribute band opened with the song everyone knows and loves, no matter if you are gay or straight, “Dancing Queen.” We danced and sang along. Anthony took videos. It was fun. Other than Dancing Queen, I am lost. I am not a huge ABBA fan. At one point, Dylan got a text from Carrie that said, “Richard is here at the Blue Moon.” Okay, since when do Carrie and Dylan text? Are they still friends? Didn’t know that they were still talking. Dylan showed the text to Anthony. Richard is Anthony’s ex, that Dylan messed around with, while he was with Anthony. It is the drama, that goes unspoken. Anthony forgave Dylan, out of convenience. Dylan is someone for Anthony to hang out with, when it is convenient for Anthony, but he doesn’t trust him. I know what you are thinking, then why have him around? Like I said before, Anthony and I are friends even if we don’t agree with the decisions one another makes.
Well we all walked back to my car, and drove to the Blue Moon. I didn’t want to go. There were other places we could go. This was a bad idea. Anthony had been drinking so much already, this was not good. I understand why Anthony wanted to “bump” into him. We all have been there, but not like this, and not now. We are celebrating his birthday!
When we walked into the Blue Moon, and immediately to the left there was this little table, that could only seat two.  There he was, Richard and his boyfriend. I looked at him. He made eye contact with me, smiled, but didn’t say anything. I think it didn’t click in his head who I was. I looked back at Anthony and smiled. Then I turned back to Richard. He recognized me, hugged me and said, “Oh my God. how are you?” I smiled and said, into his ear (the music was so loud) I said, “I am well. Anthony is here. He looked behind me and saw him. He looked at his boyfriend and said, “Oh my God. We have to go.” I looked at him and said, “Dylan too.” He looked at me like he seen a ghost, and then behind me and turned a little and saw Dylan. He said, “Oh my God are you serious?” I said, “If you are going to continue to act like this, then it looks like you are not over him. You need to say hi to him, and be the bigger person. I am sure he would say hi to you, but he hears you acting this way, then perhaps you aren’t over him….” He looked at me and said, “No you are right, but you said, bigger person I am not even going to go there.” He laughed. He was trying to make a fat joke about Anthony. I shook my head.
Eventually Anthony and Richard did talk. Richard introduced him to his boyfriend. Anthony told him about his job, and his apartment, and etc. Anthony has so much going for him. Richard didn’t look good at all. Dylan was at the bar getting a drink, while Anthony and Richard were talking. He turned to watch them talk. He looked at Richard, up and down. It was gross how he was looking at him, in front of Anthony like that. I think Dylan would betray Anthony again. Dylan would do it again with Richard behind Anthony’s back, if Richard would have him. I just know it. It was creepy.
The Blue Moon was packed. There was a drag show tonight. We watched most of the drag show. Bambi Dearest is my favorite drag queen ever. She is the best, but she knows it, which is okay. She puts on a great show. The others not so much. It was around 12:50am when I rounded up the troops. I was getting tired. I asked Anthony if we could leave. He said, he didn’t mind. He was already so drunk. I said to Dylan, “Let’s go, we are leaving.” He said, “By yourself?” I said,”No we all are going to leave now. I am super tired.” He said, “oh okay.” We were walking to the car Anthony is crying and is emotional. He said, “I am just so happy to be gay.” Dylan is super quiet. Ray is laughing and is so drunk. This was going to be a long ride home.
Once we got to Anthony’s,  I went inside and grabbed my bag. I said, Goodbye to Dylan. Anthony walked me out, and then we were talking about the night, Richard, and Dylan. I told him I would text him when I got home. When I arrived home, I texted him that I was home safe. He thanked me for everything tonight. I got a shower, then climbed into bed with Drew. I was exhausted.
