Fastest Labs Grand Opening

This morning, we were still a bit bummed from the show case, but we had a grand opening to get ready for, and we weren’t sure who was going to come, or not. We set up the office and put the table up, and the Fastest Labs table cloth, and set up the lemonade. At one point, Kim came in with some pretzels from the Philly Pretzel company. She was going crazy, because today is National Pretzel Day.

When 11am rolled around, our phone rang and it was Sonea from the Double Tree in Greentree. She was calling us to see what building we were in, I watched from the window, as she pulled in, she fixed her make up in her car, and hung up the phone with us. She came in our office, and put her business card in the fishbowl for the pirates game tickets. We talked with her about our business, her life before she moved to the US, and what it was like for her in Pakistan, Earl came in our maintenance guy, he kind of butted heads with Sonea, as they discussed politics.

Eventually, Earl left and the mayor of Greentree showed up with his accountant, who dropped something on the way into our office. Well the thing that he dropped was a plaque for Chris containing the key of Greentree glued to the plaque. I tried not to laugh at how awkward this was. I took a picture of Chris shaking hands with the mayor of Greentree.

Then my mom showed up with her friend Gaye Posey. It was another body. They had a pretzel, and some lemonade. They stayed for a minute and then went to lunch. Sonea was probably hoping for more people to show up, so she could get some business contacts, off of us. Well it just didn’t work out that way. No one else showed up. It was kind of sad.

So Chris and I ate pretzels all day. Earl came back in and talked to us. He said, “Aren’t you glad you didn’t go with the radio station, or have this thing outside?” We both agreed that would have been a huge waste of money, but it is what it is. Needless to say, Sonea is the winner of the tickets.
